Massassauga Provincial Park

For the second year in a row a few buddies and I headed up to The Massassauga Provincial Park for a weekend of canoeing and camping.

Our site this year was in a less isolated area and, while the site itself was nice, the boat traffic was pretty heavy throughout the day. Lesson learned for next time.

Little Blackstone Lake

A couple buddies and I decided to canoe into Little Blackstone Lake at The Massassauga Provincial Park. Accessible only after a 800m portage, the lake is quiet and fairly isolated.

We got lucky on the first night with the Milky Way, clear skies, and the Northern Lights. It was my first time seeing them and the dark skies over Georgian Bay were perfect for it!

Winter Camping

Back in January my dad, brother, and I went winter camping at MacGregor Point Provincial Park. It was my first real time winter camping, and we lucked out with the weather!

The night before and after it went down to -20, though on the night we were there it was a balmy -5. I don’t have winter camping equipment of my own, but borrowed a winter sleeping bag and slept in my usual three season tent.

The morning after we went for a short walk before heading out before a storm rolled in, and I popped up to Port Elgin to scout it out for summer photos.
