Most summers I make a point of heading over to the Willow Run Airport outside of Ypsilanti, Michigan for the annual Thunder Over Michigan airshow. The show showcases iconic WWII aircraft from the Michigan Flight Museum and private collections from across the United States along with modern fighters and displays.
While the lineup of aircraft was a bit lighter this year than in years past, there were still some standout performers and planes! Thom Richard and his P-40 Warhawk “American Dream” set a new bar for low flying performances, and the collection of P-51 Mustangs at the show did some fantastic formation flying.
The Thunder Over Michigan show remains one of the best airshows around and I’m already looking forward to seeing what planes make an appearance next year!
